The Human-Animal Science

Human-Animal Science (HAS) represents a pioneering venture in independent academic research, established in Denmark and evolving from its founder's dedicated efforts since 2003. With a legacy of over two decades, HAS epitomizes the pinnacle of scholarly excellence, anchoring its operations in stringent scientific and empirical frameworks. The initiative upholds the highest academic integrity and objectivity standards, deliberately distancing itself from personal or commercial influences that could tarnish its quest for unadulterated knowledge.

A commitment to fostering a culture of excellence, respect, and integrity is HAS mission. This is a place where open, respectful exchanges are not just encouraged but are the foundation of our community. Distinguishing itself through self-sufficiency, HAS prioritizes the intrinsic value of research and learning, clarifying the constraints typically associated with external funding or interests.

Central to our ethos is the democratization of knowledge. HAS strives to ensure that high-quality educational experiences are within reach for everyone, offering an affordable pathway to learning that might otherwise be prohibitively expensive or limited. This approach aims to create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment where every participant, regardless of their expertise or financial background, can contribute to and benefit from the collective wisdom of the HAS community.

HAS's endeavors yield a rich harvest of insights and breakthroughs, disseminated through various channels. These include bespoke services, scholarly publications, pro-bono initiatives, and more, ensuring that the fruits of its research reach a wide and varied audience. Strategic collaborations with discerning individuals and institutions further amplify the impact of HAS, nurturing a vibrant community united by a mutual passion for knowledge.

Moreover, HAS's influence extends beyond the academic sphere, engaging professionals from various disciplines, animal owners, and enthusiasts alike. The organization is committed to democratizing access to its rich knowledge repository, empowering a broader spectrum of individuals with invaluable resources.

Reflective of this inclusive ethos, HAS's digital platform offers various engagement options. This includes complimentary access, a subscription-based Premium Scientia Hub, and professional services. This strategic approach ensures that HAS's extensive knowledge base remains both accessible and affordable, aligning with the diverse needs and capacities of its global audience.

The Human-Animal Science Founder

Roberto Barata is a professional with extensive experience working with various animal species, especially dogs, since 2003. His academic expertise in animal behavior and modification is scientifically grounded and actively applied to understand and tackle real-world challenges and continuous development.

Living in Denmark, Roberto collaborates with etologi.dk. He offers a spectrum of services, including consultation, independent research, and teaching both online and on-campus courses in anthrozoology and animal behavior modification. His contributions extend globally, having authored content for animal professionals and engaged in pro bono work and research for numerous institutions.

In 2008, he founded Human-Animal Science in Portugal, where he has been pioneering anthrozoological models that integrate theory, practice, and empirical evidence in animal training. His pragmatic approach provides critical thinking tools and fresh perspectives for animal behavior modification and has significant educational implications for global initiatives. Now, Human-Animal Science is based in Denmark.

A commitment to natural communication, interspecies understanding, and respect for the intrinsic nature of each species underpins Roberto's work philosophy. He emphasizes critical thinking and questioning and steers clear of harmful or coercive methods, reflecting his ethical and technical standards.

He remains at the forefront of his field through rigorous study, extensive research, valuable practical experience, and a dedication to eschewing mindless conformity. He upholds integrity by eliminating personal biases and compromised funding sources, and he champions incorporating diverse perspectives and critical thought in his educational endeavors. His focus is steadfast on independent research and hands-on work, driven by an unyielding quest for knowledge and a dedication to disseminating insightful analyses.

He is a vocal critic of scientific biases in animal training studies and urges professionals to engage in field-based research and empirically substantiate their theories actively. His work offers varied viewpoints, promotes a practice-based approach to animal behavior modification, and highlights the educational importance of evidence-based practices for worldwide initiatives.

Roberto's life mission is to honor silence and individuals, prioritize simplicity and precision in actions, and consciously avoid squandering precious time and energy on trivial matters.
